Special Needs

We recognise that some children at some time in their school life will experience difficulties in one or more areas of the curriculum.  Our aim is to help each child develop fully, both socially and intellectually.  We are fortunate in having a specialist teacher who can offer support to such children. There is a central, purpose-built classroom where children can be taught in small groups, although the teacher will sometimes provide help within a child's usual class.  Frequent monitoring takes place and parents are fully consulted if a child is considered for more formal external assessment.

Within school, our policy of setting for both Literacy and Numeracy allows the more able child to have access to more demanding tasks and extension work.
