GENERAL INFORMATION
The School was established in 1870 by the Anglican Church and was originally operated solely by the Church but subsequently became the responsibility of the Local Education Authority as a Voluntary Controlled School. The School has retained its strong links with the Church and, through this unique partnership, St. James' Church maintains a permanent presence on the school site. Church services are held in the hall every Sunday at 10.00am. The Church is also active in the School at Governor level and the local minister has involvement in weekly assemblies and other activities within the School. We foster links with other local churches, and encourage a Christian educational learning programme, but admission to the school does not depend on church membership or affiliation.
Following extensions to the school St James Church now has a permanent dedicated area in the school where they meet for a service on Sundays, and use for toddler groups and other activities.
