Admission and Transfer

Children who are aged three on 31st August are eligible for a part-time admission to the Nursery in the following Autumn term, and those who are aged four on that date are eligible for admission to the Reception classes.

The Schools Admissions Office at Solihull LEA (Tel. 0121 704 6693 or admissions@solihull.gov.uk) deals with all school admissions.  Application forms for Nursery and Reception places are sent out in the year preceding admission. There is an induction process for children joining the Nursery, or transferring from Nursery to Reception, involving short initial sessions, to help the children settle into their new environment.

If school places are required at other times, for example by families moving into the area with children already in primary education, parents should first contact the Solihull LEA Schools Admissions Office regarding precise details of admissions criteria.  If parents wish to do so they may make an appointment to visit the School to meet the Headteacher and be shown around. We are always happy to meet prospective parents and children and talk to them about what Bentley Heath School has to offer.

The majority of pupils living in and around Bentley Heath will transfer to Arden School in Knowle for their secondary education.  Parents receive a letter during the Summer term of their child’s penultimate primary year, explaining the procedure for allocating secondary school places in the locality.   Parents who wish to enter their children for independent schools must make their own arrangements for application.  The Headteacher and teaching staff will always be willing to offer help and advice if required.
