Absence from School

When a child has been absent from school due to illness please ring, write or send a message on the first day of absence, there is no need to contact us again unless the absence will be protracted.  A brief note is required when your child returns to school so that the cause of absence can be noted on the register.  Please ensure your child is fully fit before returning to school.

In agreement with other local schools, we strongly advise against taking family holidays during term time so that children’s education is not disrupted, particularly those children in Y2 and Y6 who are subject to National tests during May. 

Bentley Heath School follows Solihull LEA policy on holiday absence.  Any absence taken without prior permission, other than for illness or genuine medical appointments, will be recorded as unauthorised absence and reported as such on your child’s annual Report.
